To speed up the process, MSEDCL has set up dedicated teams for each sub-division and assigned individual recovery targets to staff members. Consumers have been urged to clear both their pending and current bills promptly to avoid power disconnection.

The Pune circle serves over 38 lakh electricity users, with around 8.44 lakh listed as defaulters. The focus on uninterrupted supply during the festive season caused delays in collections, resulting in significant arrears. As of November 6, unpaid amounts included ₹262 crore from 2.76 lakh consumers in the Pune Rural Division, ₹90.44 crore from 2.74 lakh in Ganeshkhind Urban Division, and ₹84.03 crore from 2.93 lakh in Rasta Peth Urban Division.

Out of the total defaulters, domestic consumers account for ₹162.61 crore, commercial users owe ₹64.17 crore, and low-pressure industrial units ₹27.41 crore. Street lighting and water supply connections have arrears of ₹92.65 crore and ₹78.69 crore respectively, while public service and other users together owe over ₹10 crore.

Sunil Kakade, Chief Engineer of the MSEDCL Pune Circle, appealed to consumers to make timely payments. He also reminded that reconnection charges apply if power is cut off, ₹310 for single-phase and ₹520 for three-phase connections, in addition to the outstanding amount.
