Maharashtra Infrastructure Projects: CM Devendra Fadnavis Reviews Progress, Sets New Deadlines for Key Metro, Tunnel and Road Projects
Mumbai, November 5, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a high-level Infrastructure War Room Meeting to review the progress of major Maharashtra infrastructure projects across Mumbai, Thane, and Pune. The meeting focused on ensuring time-bound completion of key metro lines, tunnels, coastal roads, and redevelopment projects that are shaping the state’s urban and transport landscape.
The Chief Minister emphasized that all ongoing infrastructure projects must be completed within the scheduled timelines, and directed departments to resolve any implementation challenges immediately. Senior officials, project contractors, and representatives from various agencies were present during the review.
Revised Completion Deadlines for Major Projects in Maharashtra
The War Room meeting set new completion targets for several critical projects aimed at improving connectivity and reducing travel time across Mumbai, Pune, and Thane.

• Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi–Shivaji Nagar): March 2026

• Orange Gate–Marine Drive Urban Tunnel: December 2028
• Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway Phase 1: May 2026
• Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway Phase 2: January 2026
• Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway Phase 3: October 2028
• Kharghar–Turbhe Link Road: December 2028
• Bandra–Versova Sea Link: May 2028
• Goregaon–Mulund Twin Tunnel: November 2028
• Mumbai–Pune Missing Link: March 2026
• Sewri–Worli Elevated Corridor: September 2026
• Mumbai Coastal Road (North) – Versova to Bhayander: December 2028
These projects, once completed, are expected to significantly ease congestion, enhance intercity and intracity mobility, and support Maharashtra’s growing economy.
Focus on Redevelopment and Urban Transformation
Among the projects discussed, the redevelopment of BDD Chawl at N. M. Joshi Marg was identified as a top priority. CM Fadnavis directed that the execution of this project be accelerated, given its social importance and impact on housing. Redevelopment of BDD Chawl Naigaon and several key power and transmission projects, such as the Kudus-Aarey AEMIL HVDC Connectivity and the 400kV Babhaleshwar–Kudus Line, were also reviewed.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that these initiatives will “redefine Maharashtra’s infrastructure, improving the quality of life for citizens and creating world-class connectivity across regions.”
Pune Metro Expansion: Two New Corridors Approved Under Phase 2
In a major boost to Pune’s urban transport network, Phase 2 of the Pune Metro received the green signal for two new feeder corridors:
- Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor
- Hadapsar Bus Depot to Saswad Road
Approved under the chairmanship of CM Devendra Fadnavis on 4th November 2025, these expansions will extend the metro eastward, connecting suburban areas such as Hadapsar, Fursungi, Loni Kalbhor, and Saswad.
Key highlights of the Pune Metro Phase 2 expansion:
• These corridors will form part of the larger Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi Metro route.
• The 16 km stretch will be fully elevated, implemented by Maha-Metro.
• Estimated project cost: ₹5,704 crore.
• The Hadapsar–Saswad line will extend via tunnel to the upcoming Purandar Airport, featuring multi-level integration for metro, road, and parking.
• CM Fadnavis has instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for the Khadakwasla–Hadapsar–Swargate–Kharadi section to ensure timely execution.
This expansion aligns with Pune’s vision for a seamless and sustainable public transport system, connecting key residential, commercial, and industrial zones.
Other Ongoing Pune Metro Projects
The meeting also reviewed the timelines of other Pune Metro corridors currently under execution:
• Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar Line 3: Completion by March 2026
• PCMC–Nigdi Line 1 Extension (4.4 km elevated): Target January 2027
• Swargate–Katraj Line 1 Extension (underground): Target March 2029
• Vanaz–Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi–Wagholi/Vitthalwadi Corridors: Target July 2029
These projects will play a key role in enhancing mobility, reducing pollution, and supporting the region’s economic growth.

Integrated Infrastructure Vision for Maharashtra
The reviewed projects form part of Maharashtra’s long-term infrastructure roadmap, designed to support economic growth, attract investment, and create a better urban experience. With several metro corridors, sea links, tunnels, and expressways advancing simultaneously, the state is moving towards a multi-modal connectivity model that integrates road, rail, and metro networks.
CM Devendra Fadnavis reiterated that Maharashtra infrastructure projects are central to making the state a national leader in urban development, logistics, and mobility.
