The evacuation was carried out by a Navy Dornier aircraft after the Union Territory administration of Lakshadweep sought urgent assistance. The aircraft took off from INS Garuda at 1:20 am despite challenging weather conditions.

By 5:45 am, the child was safely brought to Kochi and rushed to a civil hospital for immediate neurosurgery treatment. Officials said the quick response highlighted the Navy’s readiness to extend support in emergencies, living up to its commitment of being available “anytime, anywhere.”

The successful operation once again underscored the crucial role played by the armed forces in ensuring timely medical support in remote island territories.
