Pune: Teen Sexually Assaulted, Woman Robbed of Gold on Pune-Solapur Highway; Police Launch Manhunt

Pune Rural Police have launched an extensive search operation to nab two suspects involved in an armed robbery and sexual assault on the Pune-Solapur highway near Bhigwan in the early hours of Monday.
Incident Details
According to officials from the Daund police station, seven people from three families in Pune district were traveling together in a van from Pune to Solapur. The group included:
- A 70-year-old driver
- Two women (one robbed of gold ornaments)
- A teenage girl (sexually assaulted at knifepoint)
- Two 17-year-old boys
The incident occurred around 4:15 AM when the driver stopped the van by the roadside to relieve himself. Two unidentified men approached the vehicle, brandishing sharp weapons. They robbed one woman of her gold ornaments, while one of the assailants dragged the girl away and sexually assaulted her.
Police Investigation Underway
The Pune Rural Police have launched a massive manhunt to track down the suspects. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and questioning locals for leads.
“We are investigating the case thoroughly and will ensure the accused are arrested soon,” said a police officer.
