Authorities Mandate Enhanced Security Checks at Airports; Airlines Issue Advisory to Arrive Early for Flights

In response to rising security concerns amid the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued nationwide directives to bolster airport safety protocols. As per Ministry of Civil Aviation sources, all passengers across Indian airports will now be subjected to a mandatory Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC) before boarding. Additionally, visitor entry into terminal buildings has been completely suspended, and Air Marshals will be deployed as part of enhanced security measures.
The instructions have prompted airlines across the country to issue urgent travel advisories to their passengers:
IndiGo (@IndiGo6E) emphasized the need for passengers to allocate additional time for travel.
“#6ETravelUpdate: In these extraordinary times, heightened security measures are taken up across all airports. We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities.”
Air India (@airindia) urged passengers to arrive at least three hours prior to departure.
“#TravelAdvisory: In view of an order by BCAS on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at least three hours prior to scheduled departure. Check-in closes 75 minutes before departure.”
SpiceJet (@flyspicejet) echoed similar guidance, stating:
“#TravelUpdate: Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding.”
Akasa Air (@AkasaAir) issued a detailed advisory, highlighting both time and baggage restrictions:
“#TravelUpdate: Due to enhanced security measures at all airports across India, we request you to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure. Only one hand bag up to 7 kg is permitted. All passengers must undergo secondary security checks before boarding. Valid government-approved photo ID is mandatory. Online check-in is encouraged to save time.”
Passengers planning to travel in the coming days are strongly advised to factor in extended security checks and reach airports well in advance. These measures are part of a national effort to ensure safety and preparedness in the wake of evolving geopolitical tensions.
