Relief in Bengaluru: City receives rain after six-month dry spell

Bengaluru Rainfall after Ugadi

After enduring nearly half a year of arid conditions, Bengaluru finally breathed a sigh of relief as rain graced the city on May 02 evening. The much-awaited downpour, measuring 4.3 mm, brought jubilation to residents who had been grappling with the severest water scarcity in memory.

Banashankari, Vijayanagar, Ulsoor, Indiranagar, and Frazer Town were among the areas drenched by the rain, while others experienced lighter showers. Varuna Mitra, the 24×7 helpline of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, confirmed Bengaluru City (BBMP limits) received the long-awaited rainfall.

Social media platforms erupted with joyous posts from Bengalureans, who shared images and videos capturing the welcome rain. This rainfall comes as a blessing after the city’s last precipitation on November 23, marking the end of an unprecedented dry spell accompanied by record-high temperatures.
