Pune successfully hosts the third meeting of G20 Digital Economy Working Group

G20 Digital Economy Working Group Meeting in Pune

Pune, June 12, 2023: Pune, a technological hub and the cultural capital of Maharashtra, successfully hosted the 3rd G20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting.

The two-day global summit, saw participation from approximately 50 representatives from various countries, discussions on various topics, and signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with multiple countries.

Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, officially inaugurated the third meeting of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group. The delegates arriving at the Lohegaon airport were welcomed traditionally by the administration.

The summit was marked by the initiation of a ‘Global Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Exhibition’ and a presentation titled ‘India Stack’, showcasing successful examples of digital solutions implemented at a population scale in India. Both the exhibition and the presentation were inaugurated by Union MoS for Electronics & Information Technology of India, Rajeev Chandrashekhar.

G20 Digital Economy Working Group Meeting in Pune

On the sidelines of the meeting, India signed MoUs with Armenia, Sierra Leone, and Suriname for cooperation in the field of sharing successful digital solutions implemented at a population scale, contributing to the digital transformation at a global level.

The global DPI exhibition held in the backdrop of the third G20 meeting showcased India’s digital capabilities. The information about the Aadhaar identification system implemented by the Indian Government was meticulously studied by the foreign delegates.

In addition, the digital presentations on the projects and the use of advanced technology by Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune Smart City, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation added to the significance of the event.
