Pune Metro Records 48.33 Lakh Passengers During Ganeshotsav 2026, Earns ₹7.49 Crore
Pune, September 28, 2026: Pune Metro recorded 48,32,915 passenger journeys during the 12 days of Ganeshotsav 2026, generating revenue of ₹7,49,28,377. Ridership during the festival increased by nearly 30% compared to last year, according to Maha Metro.
The figures cover the period from September 14 to September 25. Commuters from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and other parts of Maharashtra used the Metro during the festival, with services running at increased frequency and for extended hours.
The highest single-day ridership was recorded on Anant Chaturdashi, September 25, when Pune Metro operated continuously for 24 hours from 6 am on Friday to 6 am on Saturday.
During these 24 hours, 5,80,280 passengers travelled by Metro, generating revenue of ₹85,61,895.
Mahatma Phule Mandai station recorded the highest footfall on Visarjan day with 70,375 passengers, followed by Deccan Gymkhana with 64,938 and Swargate with 48,906.
PCMC station handled 43,491 passengers and generated ₹9,24,924 in revenue, while Ramwadi recorded 37,894 passengers. In all, 11 Metro stations recorded more than 20,000 commuters each during the day.
The District Court interchange station saw 1,22,552 commuters transfer between the two Metro lines on Visarjan day.

PCMC-Swargate line records 25.15 lakh passengers
During the entire 12-day festival period, Line 1 between PCMC and Swargate recorded 25,15,516 commuters and revenue of ₹4,17,46,626.
Line 2 between Vanaz and Ramwadi carried 23,17,399 commuters and generated ₹3,31,81,751.
Mahatma Phule Mandai was the busiest station during the festival, recording 6,82,473 commuters and revenue of ₹1,01,85,295.
It was followed by PCMC with 4,72,658 commuters and ₹99,69,859 in revenue; Swargate with 4,35,489 commuters and ₹63,22,293; Ramwadi with 4,05,447 commuters and ₹65,55,008; and Pune Mahanagarpalika with 2,69,477 commuters and ₹37,46,561.
The District Court interchange handled 10,39,452 line transfers during the 12 days.
Ridership rises nearly 30% over 2025
Pune Metro’s Ganeshotsav ridership has increased over the past three years. It recorded 20,45,100 commuters during Ganeshotsav in 2024 and 37,17,578 in 2025.
The 2026 figure of 48,32,915 represents an increase of 29.99% over 2025 and 136.32% over 2024.
Digital ticketing modes were preferred by 59% of commuters during the festival. Of the ticketing and payment modes reported, 28% used WhatsApp or mobile apps, 29% used paper QR tickets and 14% used cash transactions.
During peak rush hours, Metro trains operated at five-minute intervals. Services were extended until 2 am during the initial festival nights, followed by continuous 24-hour operations on Visarjan day.
Medical facilities were also set up at high-footfall stations, including Swargate, Mahatma Phule Mandai and Deccan Gymkhana.
Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar said the trust shown by lakhs of devotees was a matter of pride. He said measures including five-minute train frequencies, 24-hour operations, medical assistance and station management helped manage passenger movement during the festival, and thanked citizens and visitors for choosing public transport.
Maha Metro also thanked commuters for cooperating with Metro personnel and opting for an eco-friendly mode of transport during Ganeshotsav.
