PUNE, May 31, 2023: In a show of exceptional bravery and leadership, Devendra Potfode, Chief Fire Officer of the Pune Fire Brigade, was acknowledged by the Pune City Traders Association for his role in containing the large-scale fire that erupted at Timber Market, Bhavani Peth, last week.

On May 25th, a massive fire broke out at a timber godown located in the Timber Market around 4:14 AM. Displaying immense courage and professionalism, the Pune Fire Brigade swiftly sprang into action, preventing any casualties in what could have been a devastating incident.

Leading from the front was Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potfode, who along with a dedicated team of 20 officers, firemen, and a fleet of 30 fire engines, effectively managed the situation. Their well-coordinated efforts led to the fire being successfully controlled by 9:59 AM, following which the cooling operations began.

The swift response and the effective firefighting strategy demonstrated by the Pune Fire Brigade, led by Potfode, ensured the safety of the city’s people and property. The absence of any loss of life in this incident highlights the crucial role of our fire brigade and the effectiveness of their timely response.
