Pune: CP Amitesh Kumar asks Metro officials ‘Aapko kitna time lagne wala hai?’ amidst traffic congestion on University road

Pune traffic congestion university road

The persistent traffic congestion on Pune’s University Road, exacerbated by ongoing road construction and metro projects, has significantly impacted the daily lives of its residents. The bottleneck at University Chowk remains a critical issue, despite numerous complaints from the citizens, interventions by MLA Siddharth Shirole, and various diversion efforts by the Pune traffic police. The Pune traffic congestion on university road is a serious issue that needs to be solved.

In a decisive move to tackle the escalating traffic woes, Pune’s Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, recently confronted Metro officials during an inspection at University Chowk. A video captured Kumar pressing the officials about the project’s timeline, emphatically questioning, “Aaapko kitna time lagne wala hai?” He insisted on continuous work through the night to ensure visible progress by sunrise, highlighting the urgent need to mitigate the traffic congestion on University Road.

To further alleviate the Pune traffic congestion on university road, the Pune City Traffic Police have implemented a new diversion strategy. This plan restricts vehicle access to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) from Senapati Bapat Road and Ganeshkhind Road, directing traffic through an alternative route via the Millennium Gate near Chaturshringi Police Station. Additionally, specific measures have been introduced for vehicles coming from Baner and Aundh, aiming to streamline movement and reduce congestion at this critical Pune junction.
