PMRDA Plans 10 Fire Stations in Pune Region, Four Locations Identified in First Phase
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) plans to establish 10 fire stations in its jurisdiction in the first phase to strengthen emergency response and fire safety services. At least four state-of-the-art fire stations have been proposed in Khed, Shirur, Maval and Haveli talukas.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary reviewed the current status and operations of fire stations in the PMRDA region during a meeting at the PMRDA headquarters in Akurdi, Pune. The meeting focused on improving the efficiency of emergency response mechanisms across the region.
Considering the growth of industrial, residential and urban areas, PMRDA has proposed one fire station each in the four talukas.
In Khed taluka, a fire station is proposed in view of the large number of industrial buildings. In Shirur taluka, the proposal takes into account the growth of industrial buildings along Pune-Nagar Road.
Maval taluka has been identified because of increasing urbanisation and the expansion of industrial and residential buildings. In Haveli taluka, a fire station is proposed to serve the growing number of villages along Pune-Solapur Road.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Chief Engineer Rinaaj Pathan, Land Records Superintendent Asha Jadhav, Chief Fire Officer (Provisional) Vaibhav Tandel, Executive Engineer (In-Charge) Abhiman Bhosle, Deputy Engineer Shankar Kolekar and other officials.
The proposed expansion is aimed at strengthening fire services and improving emergency preparedness across the Pune metropolitan region.
