In preparation for the event, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started preparations for upgrading the roads on the cycling circuit and issued strict instructions to utility providers and departments to finish all related road-trenching work before the October 31, 2026.

Recently, many high-level meetings were conducted by PMC officials with representative from agencies such as MNGL, MSEDCL and others to ensure all pending infrastructure works are completed before October 31 deadline so that there will no road digging afterwards.

Companies have been to directed to explore technical feasibility by shifting trenching to the opposite side of the road (LHS or RHS) or utilizing alternate alignments away from the main cycling track.

Road-crossing works at major intersections must be coordinated strictly with the traffic police department and executed primarily on Saturdays and Sundays following municipal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

To prevent repetitive road cutting in the future, companies are installing cross-ducts where necessary, with instructions to use larger-sized ducts to accommodate future cables.

October 31, 2026, is the absolute final deadline for utility work. No extensions or permissions will be granted to any department or agency thereafter.

To maintain high-quality infrastructure through the Defect Liability Period (DLP), no trenching permissions will be granted on these roads for 5 years following the competition.

Any incomplete excavation work remaining after the deadline will render the applicant company solely responsible for resulting public inconvenience and damage.

Post-event digging will only be considered at the Municipal Commissioner’s level under strict punitive measures. If road quality is compromised, authorities have warned of strict penal and even criminal action against the responsible companies.
