Nagpur-Pune Connectivity Boosted with New Weekly Train

In a significant move to enhance rail connectivity, Indian Railways has approved a new weekly express train connecting Rewa in Madhya Pradesh to Pune in Maharashtra. This development is set to benefit thousands of passengers, particularly those traveling between Nagpur and Pune, a route long plagued by high demand and limited options.

Weekly Route & Key Halts

The Rewa–Pune Weekly Express (Train Nos. 20152/20151) will operate every Wednesday from Rewa at 6:45 AM, reaching Nagpur by 6:20 PM and arriving in Pune by 9:45 AM the next day. The return journey (Train No. 20151) will depart Pune on Thursdays at 3:15 PM, reaching Nagpur by 5:25 AM the following day, and terminating in Rewa by 5:30 PM.

Key Stations Along the Route:

  • Satna
  • Katni
  • Jabalpur
  • Nainpur
  • Balaghat
  • Gondia
  • Nagpur
  • Wardha
  • Bhusawal
  • Manmad
  • Kopargaon
  • Ahmednagar (Ahilyanagar)
  • Daund

This route provides a crucial travel link for passengers from eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and central Maharashtra, including districts like Jalgaon, Nashik, and Ahilyanagar.

Coach Composition for Comfort & Affordability

The train will feature 20 coaches, including:

  • 4 General Coaches
  • 6 Sleeper Coaches
  • 3 AC 3-Tier Coaches
  • 3 Economy AC 3-Tier Coaches
  • 2 AC 2-Tier Coaches

Addressing High Demand on Nagpur-Pune Route

Despite existing trains like the Nagpur–Pune Express, Garib Rath, and Humsafar, heavy passenger demand often leads to long waiting lists. The new Rewa–Pune Weekly Express will provide an alternative, easing congestion and offering better flexibility.

Additionally, this train will serve medical travelers from Rewa, Shahdol, Katni, and Satna, where nearly 90% of passengers seek treatment in Nagpur’s hospitals.

Strategic Route & Political Backing

Unlike other Rewa-Pune trains that take the Itarsi route, this service will pass through Nainpur, Balaghat, and Gondia, improving connectivity for smaller towns. The launch follows persistent efforts by Balaghat MP Bharti Parthi, who advocated for the train with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Launch Date Awaited

While the train has been approved and its schedule finalized, the inaugural run date remains undisclosed. However, operations are expected to begin soon.

This new Nagpur-Pune Weekly Express is set to become a vital link for passengers across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Maharashtra, offering improved accessibility and convenience.
