Mumbai: Local train derails at CSMT, Harbour line services affected
Panvel-CSMT local derailed at CSMT station, disrupting Harbour line train traffic.
Mumbai, April 29, 2024: A coach of the Panvel-CSMT local train derailed while entering CSMT station. This has resulted in disruption of Harbour line rail traffic.
The incident happened at 11.35 am when one coach of the Panvel-CSMT local derailed while entering CSMT station at platform no. 2. Fortunately there were no were injuries reported due to this derailment.
However, Harbour line services were affected due to this derailment.
Responding to the situation, CR announced that trains towards CSMT would only travel as far as Masjid station. Meanwhile, Harbour line services would operate only between Wadala and Masjid stations until restoration work is completed at CSMT.
The disruption led to stranded passengers resorting to desperate measures, with many forced to jump onto the tracks to reach the nearest station and seek alternative road transport options.
