The catchment area of Bushi dam in Lonavala received 116 mm of rainfall within a span of 24 hours, causing the reservoir to fill to its capacity. Since the rain is continuing, the water has started overflowing the dam wall.

The gushing white waters are creating a breathtaking cascade that is attracting tourists in thousands from Pune and Mumbai. However, since the region is receiving rain continuously, authorities are cautioning tourists to be mindful of the dam and exercise caution while going near the water. They are advising against stepping into fast flowing streams to prevent the risk of drowning or being washed away.

Other tourist attractions in the region such as Rajmachi Fort, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Kune Falls, Duke’s Nose, Pawana Lake and all other surroundings lakes and fort have suddenly become tourism magnets.

However it is advised to exercise extreme caution while visiting mountains or water bodies because both present their unique dangers. Mountains pose the risk of landslides, falling rocks and mud flows while the water bodies become deep and fast flowing rivers pose danger of flooding.
