Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth Reviews Southern Command Readiness in Pune, Emphasises Modern Tech Integration

Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited the Headquarters of Southern Command in Pune on Tuesday to assess operational preparedness and review ongoing capability enhancement initiatives across the theatre. The army chief was briefed by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar on the prevailing security environment, force readiness, specialized training frameworks, and measures implemented to upgrade combat effectiveness.

The review assumes significance as Southern Command oversees vast land borders and maritime frontiers across central and southern India, demanding continuous monitoring and swift deployment capabilities. Recent geopolitical dynamics and evolving security challenges have prompted the armed forces to accelerate modernization drives across key operational formations.

During the comprehensive briefing, army leadership detailed ongoing projects focused on modernizing tactical equipment, strengthening network-centric communication, and integrating advanced surveillance assets. Discussions also centered on operational logistics, infrastructure development along strategic corridors, and welfare programs designed for troops deployed in remote sectors.

Addressing senior commanders during the visit, General Seth highlighted the necessity of maintaining uninterrupted operational readiness while adapting to modern warfare dynamics. Following the briefing session, the army chief interacted with officers and staff at the headquarters to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects. The military administration plans to accelerate the deployment of newly inducted indigenous technologies and refine joint operational exercises with the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force over the coming months.
