The FDA collected samples of boondi and laddus for testing. A total of 1,190 kg of goods, valued at approximately ₹1,73,950, has been seized, and further action is underway.

The action follows a warning issued by Maharashtra Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Munde during an event organised by the Poona Merchants Chamber in Pune for the annual sale and distribution of Diwali snacks, including laddus and chivda.

Munde had stressed that food colouring used in laddus consumed during Diwali must remain within prescribed standards. (Pune News)
