The first train will depart at 6 am, with metro services operating every six minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during non-peak hours. The fare has been fixed between ₹12 and ₹62.

The 23.203-km fully elevated corridor, also known as the Pink Line, will have 23 stations. However, passenger services will initially begin at 17 stations, with the remaining stations scheduled to open in phases until January 2027.

The corridor will connect Hinjewadi IT Park, Man, Baner, Balewadi, Mahalunge, Aundh and Shivajinagar, providing improved connectivity across key parts of Pune. The service is expected to benefit an estimated 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh passengers daily and help reduce traffic congestion. (Pune News)

Passengers will be able to interchange with MahaMetro’s Line-1 and Line-2 at District Court station. Other facilities include air-conditioned trains, charging facilities, a joint ticketing app and multimodal connectivity with PMPML buses, rickshaws, taxis and e-bikes.

Around 100 women train pilots will operate the metro, while women are expected to account for approximately 50 per cent of the total station staff.

Pune Metro Line-3 is the country’s first metro project implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) model in accordance with the National Metro Rail Policy 2017.

The project has a solar power generation capacity of 7.60 MW, with green energy expected to meet 30 per cent of its electricity requirements. It is also expected to avoid 28,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. The project has saved 2,000 tonnes of steel and 60 crore litres of water, alongside the planting of 5,500 new trees and transplantation of 750 trees.

The details were shared at a press conference held at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) headquarters by Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited CEO Anil Kumar Saini and PMRDA Chief Engineer (Special Projects) Rinaaj Pathan. (Pune News)
