Pune RTO Files FIR Against Rapido for Operating Bike Taxi Service Without Permission
Pune, October 17, 2026: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Roppen Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd. (Rapido) at Vishrantwadi Police Station (Crime No. 517/2026) on October 16, 2026.
The action was initiated by a 34-year-old RTO Motor Vehicle Inspector after authorities found that the company operated unauthorized petrol-engine bike taxis in Pune via an online app without any valid permits from the Maharashtra State Government or the Regional Transport Authority.
The case has been booked under Section 318(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 66, 93, 192(A), 193, and 197 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
