Solapur-Mumbai and Amravati-Pune Flights Selected Under Modified UDAN Scheme
Two air routes in Maharashtra, Solapur-Mumbai-Solapur and Amravati-Pune-Amravati, have been selected under the Centre’s Modified UDAN scheme, paving the way for improved air connectivity between these cities.
The selection is expected to facilitate direct flight services on both routes after the completion of the necessary procedures.
Under the Modified UDAN scheme, each state can propose four air routes and two airports. Maharashtra has used this provision to secure the selection of the two routes.
Solapur is an important centre for industry, trade and religious tourism, while Amravati is a key hub for education, agriculture and trade in the Vidarbha region.
Direct air connectivity with Mumbai and Pune is expected to save travel time for students, entrepreneurs, traders, employees and other passengers. It could also create opportunities for growth in tourism, education, industry and employment.
The initiative is part of efforts by the central and Maharashtra governments to expand regional air connectivity and make air travel more accessible across the state.
