Pune: PMRDA Gives Updates on Metro Line 3, Chakan Roads, Housing and River Projects
Pune, September 30, 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has given updates on several infrastructure and development projects across the Pune Metropolitan Region.
These include Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi-District Court), Chakan road works, affordable housing, river improvement projects and last-mile connectivity in IT parks.
PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi shared details of the projects during an interaction with journalists at the PMRDA headquarters in Akurdi on Tuesday.
Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3
Of the total 23 stations on the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3, the 23-km stretch covering 17 stations has received approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).
PMRDA said the remaining technical work will be completed in the next 10 to 12 days, following which the stretch will be ready to be commissioned for passenger services.
A ₹426-crore project has also been taken up to provide last-mile connectivity for passengers in IT parks. PMRDA and MIDC will each contribute 50% of the project cost.
Chakan road works targeted for November-December
Work on seven roads is progressing to address traffic congestion in the Chakan area. These works are expected to be completed by November-December.
Land acquisition for another four roads is currently under progress.
6,500 houses planned for completion by December
Construction of around 6,500 houses at Moshi Sector 12 is expected to be completed by December 2026, with the aim of conducting a lottery draw.
Under the PMAY-2 scheme, at least one affordable housing project will also be developed in every taluka.
PMRDA will introduce a pay-and-park system in Moshi Sectors 11 and 12 to address unauthorised parking.
Indrayani and Pawana river projects
Under the river improvement projects, 95 drains flowing into the Indrayani River and 15 drains flowing into the Pawana River will be intercepted, with the wastewater to be treated through sewage treatment plants.
The tender process for the projects is currently at the technical evaluation stage.
Dedicated squad against encroachments
PMRDA will establish a separate encroachment removal squad with machinery and manpower to act against unauthorised hoardings and encroachments.
Since January 2026, PMRDA has removed 153 unauthorised hoardings and 919 unauthorised constructions.
The authority has also made the process for various permissions fully online.
