Aadhaar Authentication Made Mandatory for Vehicle Transfer, NOC Services in Maharashtra

Aadhaar authentication has been made mandatory for vehicle ownership transfer and No Objection Certificate (NOC) services in Maharashtra, with applicants required to ensure that their name on the vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) matches the name on their Aadhaar card.

The move is aimed at standardising the online process for vehicle-related ownership transfer and NOC services through the VAHAN 4.0 platform. The services will be processed online after the applicant completes Aadhaar authentication and other required corrections.

According to the Maharashtra government advisory, applicants whose names do not match between the RC and Aadhaar will have to correct their Aadhaar details before proceeding with the application. The department has advised vehicle owners to keep their Aadhaar information, including name, address and mobile number, updated.

Applicants are also required to complete any necessary corrections in VAHAN 4.0 before carrying out Aadhaar authentication. Once the details are corrected and authentication is completed, they can apply online for vehicle ownership transfer or an NOC.

The new process is part of the next-generation vehicle services being provided through VAHAN, with the government promoting contactless processing of vehicle-related applications.

Vehicle owners planning to sell or transfer their vehicles, or those requiring an NOC, have therefore been advised to check their RC and Aadhaar details in advance. Ensuring that the names match can help avoid delays while submitting the application online.
