Major Water Supply Shutdown in Pune; List of Affected Areas
Pune, July 21, 2026: Residents in parts of Pune need to store up water early this week. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Bundgarden Water Supply Department has officially announced a total water shutdown on Thursday, July 23, 2026, for several localities due to urgent maintenance work.
According to the official notice, the shutdown is required to facilitate two major infrastructure projects: the shifting of a main water pipeline at Nigdi Bhakti Shakti Chowk within PCMC limits, and essential electrical repair and leak-plugging works at the Holkar Water Treatment Plant.
Civic authorities have warned that following the full closure on Thursday, supply will resume on Friday, July 24, 2026, but residents should expect water to arrive late and at significantly reduced pressure throughout the day.
Affected Areas
1. Bundgarden Water Supply Department Jurisdiction: Mhaske Vasti, Ganeshnagar (Bopkhel), Kalas Malwadi, Jadhavvasti, parts of Vishrantwadi, Sanjay Park, Burma Shell, Airport and surrounding areas, parts of Kharadi, areas reliant on the Hari Ganga overhead tank (Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Society, Ahilyanagar, Swa. Sainik Nagar, Hari Ganga Society, Sapras, Samaj Kalyan Hostel, Vishrantwadi Police Line, Arogya Bhavan, Shantinagar, Bharatnagar, Katarwadi, Pratikanagar, JCD Park, Vrundavan Society, Uttam Town Ship, Mittal Society, Dream Society, Jadhav Nagar, Panchshil Nagar, Shramik Nagar, Kamgar Nagar, Chandrama Nagar).
2. Chatushrungi Water Supply Department Jurisdiction: Khadki Cantonment Board, Ammunition Factory Khadki, Mula Road area, and Bhoite Vasti.
The PMC has appealed to all affected residents to store sufficient water in advance and cooperate with civic authorities during this essential maintenance period.
