Pune Builders Provide 100 Traffic Wardens to Help Police Manage Traffic During Monsoon and Festivals
Pune, July 4, 2026: The city’s real estate body has stepped in to give the traffic police a much-needed helping hand this rainy season.
CREDAI Pune, the apex body of city developers, has signed an agreement with the police to deploy 100 trained traffic wardens across the city. The wardens will work alongside the Pune Traffic Police from July to September to manage the annual monsoon chaos.
With ongoing Metro work, road digging, and heavy rains causing daily snarls, the additional manpower is expected to ease pressure at key junctions. The wardens were officially handed over to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar at a ceremony on Friday.
The commissioner has asked the new recruits to work with sincerity and always be courteous to citizens. The wardens have undergone a two-day training before being sent to the field.

CREDAI Pune President Manish Jain said that contributing to the city goes beyond just building homes. He added that better traffic flow makes commuting safer and easier for everyone.
The wardens will be on duty from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Around half will be deployed close to their homes, while the rest will be placed at high-traffic spots based on police requirements.
Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil said the wardens will not only help during the rains but also during major events like the Palkhi procession and Ganesh Chaturthi, which see a massive spike in vehicular movement.
CREDAI Pune has been around since 1982 and represents over 2,000 developers in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad, accounting for nearly 70 percent of construction in the region.
