Bhira in Raigad district emerged as the wettest location in the region, receiving 158 mm of rain, while Tamhini recorded 110 mm. Other major rainfall figures included Davdi (78 mm), Dongerwadi (76 mm), Lonavala (66 mm), Sirgaon (50 mm), Mulshi (30 mm) and Wangaon (20 mm).

The widespread rainfall indicates that the monsoon is now fully active across the region, bringing significant rain to the ghat sections, reservoirs and catchment areas that supply water to Pune and nearby districts.

Heavy rainfall was also reported along the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, resulting in low visibility for motorists, particularly during the early morning hours. Drivers have been advised to exercise caution while travelling through the ghat stretches as rain continues intermittently.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Pune under a Yellow Alert for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall. Residents have been advised to remain watchful, especially during periods of thunderstorm activity.

The rain has not been limited to Pune and its surrounding ghats. Mumbai witnessed extremely heavy rain throughout the night, with weather observations indicating that many parts of the city crossed the 100 mm mark and were approaching 200 mm of rainfall by around 3.30 am. Weather radar imagery showed intense rain bands continuing to affect large parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region through the night.

With active monsoon conditions prevailing across Maharashtra, further spells of rain are expected over the next few days, particularly in the Western Ghats and adjoining districts.
