Pune: Army Doctors Successfully Treat Patient With Severe Head Injury and Life Threatening Breathing Failure

Pune, June 19, 2026: Specialist doctors at Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences, Pune, successfully treated a 60-year-old man, father of a serving army personnel after a serious head injury and life-threatening breathing failure.
The patient had to be put on life support for 9 days using advanced heart-lung support while his lungs recovered.

The seamless coordination between the Command Hospital, Southern Command, AFMC, and AICTS ensured that the patient got the most appropriate treatment while he gradually regained strength.
After 9 days on life-support, he could breathe on his own and completed a full month-long recovery.
