Pune Faces Full-Day Water Shutdown This Thursday; Supply Disruption to Hit Entire City
PUNE – Residents across Pune are advised to store sufficient water as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a complete suspension of water supply for the entire city on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
The shutdown is scheduled to facilitate urgent maintenance and repair works involving electrical, pumping, and architectural infrastructure at the city’s main water works. The suspension will be in effect for a full 24-hour period, starting from midnight on Wednesday (12:00 AM) and lasting until midnight on Thursday.
Impact on Friday Supply
While the supply is expected to resume on Friday, April 17, the PMC Water Supply Department has warned that the morning supply may be delayed and delivered at low pressure. It typically takes several hours for the water pressure to stabilize across the distribution network following a total shutdown.
Advisory for Citizens
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and the PMC administration have requested all citizens to plan their water usage proactively.
- Store Water in Advance: Residents are encouraged to store enough water on Wednesday to last through Thursday and Friday morning.
- Judicious Usage: Use water sparingly during the restoration period on Friday to ensure equitable distribution to tail-end areas.
- Stay Updated: For further information or emergency queries, citizens can visit the official citizen engagement platform at www.pmccare.in.
The PMC has expressed regret for the inconvenience and requested the full cooperation of Punekars to ensure the necessary infrastructure upgrades are completed on time.
