Hinjawadi Traffic Alert: Major Diversions on February 19 for Shiv Jayanti Celebrations
Hinjawadi, February 17, 2026: In anticipation of the grand Shiv Jayanti celebrations and processions scheduled for February 19, 2026, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced significant traffic diversions in the Hinjawadi area.
The procession, which is expected to draw approximately 1,000 participants, will move from the Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Hinjawadi Gaothan to Shri Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. To ensure public safety and prevent massive congestion in the IT hub, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vivek Patil, has issued a temporary notification under the Motor Vehicles Act to regulate vehicle movement.
Key Road Closures
The stretch from Kasturi Chowk to Chhatrapati Shri Shivaji Maharaj Chowk will be closed to all types of vehicles between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Thursday, February 19.
Alternative Routes for Commuters
To minimize inconvenience, the traffic department has suggested the following alternate routes:
- From Marunji Y-Junction/Kasturi Chowk: Traffic heading toward Shivaji Maharaj Chowk must turn right at Kasturi Chowk, proceed via Vinode Vasti, and turn left toward Indian Oil Chowk to reach their destination.
- From Mezza 9 towards Hinjawadi Gaothan: Vehicles coming from Mezza 9 Chowk should proceed straight past Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk toward Indian Oil Chowk, then via Kasturi Chowk and Vinode Vasti.
- From Jambhulkar Gym Chowk: Traffic heading toward Hinjawadi Gaothan via Shivaji Chowk will instead go straight from Jambhulkar Gym Chowk to Indian Oil Chowk, following the Kasturi Chowk and Vinode Vasti route.
- Mezza 9 to Shivaji Maharaj Chowk: The left lane of the two-lane road will be closed; all traffic will be diverted to the right lane.
DCP Vivek Patil has urged citizens and IT professionals working in the area to plan their travel in advance and use the designated alternative routes to avoid delays during the festive evening.
