Pune Metro Boosts Connectivity: New Entry Gates Open at Shivajinagar, PCMC, and Swargate
PUNE – In a significant move to enhance commuter convenience, Pune Metro has today, February 14, opened several new entry points and infrastructure across its network. The expansion, covering key hubs like Shivajinagar, PCMC, and Swargate, is set to make the daily commute safer, faster, and more comfortable for thousands of citizens.
Major Upgrades at Key Stations
The opening of these new access points marks a milestone in improving the “last-mile” accessibility of the metro system:
- Shivajinagar Metro Station: Entrance Gate No. 3 is now officially open to the public. This station is renowned for its design, which reflects Pune’s rich historical and traditional cultural heritage. The new gate is expected to streamline passenger flow significantly.
- PCMC Metro Station: Travelers at the Pimpri-Chinchwad end of the line can now use Entry Gate No. 3. Crucially, a new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has also been inaugurated, allowing pedestrians to cross the busy road safely and enter the station directly.
- Swargate Metro Station: Entrance Gate No. 5 has been commissioned for passenger service. This specific entry point is designed to provide seamless and safer access for commuters heading to or arriving from the Swargate bus terminus.
High-Level Inspection
The expansion comes on the heels of a high-profile visit. Yesterday, February 13, Mr. Goraksh Jagtap, the Chief Personnel Officer of South Eastern Railway, visited the Pune Metro project. During his tour, Mr. Jagtap traveled on the metro and conducted a detailed inspection of the District Court Metro Station, acknowledging the project’s progress and infrastructure standards.
With these new gates now operational, Pune Metro continues to strengthen its role as the backbone of the city’s public transport, prioritizing pedestrian safety and ease of access.
