Pune: In a significant boost to the security and logistical framework of the upcoming Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, Bajaj Auto has officially handed over 100 high-performance Dominar 400 motorcycles to the Pune Police. The handover ceremony took place at the Shivajinagar Police Headquarters Ground, marking a major milestone in the city’s preparation for the international cycling event.

The fleet of motorcycles was distributed among the Pune City Police Commissionerate, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and the Pune Rural Police. The event was graced by top officials, including Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Zilla Parishad CEO Gajanan Patil, and Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural) Sandeep Singh Gill. Representing Bajaj Auto was Sumit Narang, President of Marketing.

These specially equipped motorcycles will play a crucial role in pilot duties, route management, and ensuring the safety of international athletes during the high-speed race.

Reclaiming the ‘Cycle Capital’ Crown

The Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 is set to be a record-breaking UCI 2.2 category race. Beyond the logistical preparations, District Collector Jitendra Dudi is actively leading an outreach campaign to involve the local community.

Addressing students at MIT College, Kothrud, Collector Dudi emphasized the global significance of the event. “This grand cycling competition will take Pune’s identity to the global stage. I urge the youth and students to participate actively and help Pune reclaim its crown as the Cycle Capital of India,” he stated.

The race, scheduled to begin on January 19, aims to revive the cycling culture of the city while showcasing Pune’s infrastructure and spirit to the world.
