Punjab, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh
Schools in these regions are expected to follow a winter break in the first half of January 2026, depending on the weather.

Uttar Pradesh
UP will observe a 12-day winter break:
• 20 December to 31 December 2025
Schools are likely to reopen on 1 January 2026, subject to temperature conditions.

PM Shri Schools
All PM Shri Schools will follow a 10-day winter vacation:
• 23 December 2025 to 1 January 2026

Bihar
With temperatures expected to fall sharply after 24 November, winter holidays for classes 1 to 5 are likely. An official order is awaited, but the break may extend beyond the standard schedule due to earlier patterns and weather warnings.

Why Winter Holidays Are Longer This Year
The combination of Christmas Eve being declared a national school holiday, harsh winter conditions in northern states, and alignment with festive breaks has resulted in a longer year-end shutdown. Schools also use this period for planning, maintenance and preparing for the new academic year.

Tips for Parents During the Break
• Check official school messages, apps or websites for exact dates. Different classes may have different schedules.
• Stay ready for possible extensions in colder regions.
• Help children organise homework and projects during the break.

Tips for Students
• Finish pending assignments before the holidays.
• Spread out holiday homework instead of doing it at once.
• Read for fun and prepare for reopening by organising your bag a day earlier.

As the year ends, the December holiday period offers students a chance to rest, celebrate and spend time with family before heading into the new academic term.

Important Note: Parents and students should always confirm holiday dates with their respective schools or school authorities and avoid relying only on news reports or television updates.
