Watch: Tiger Cub Blocks Road for Hours Near Tadoba, Traffic Comes to a Standstill
A Royal Bengal tiger cub created an unusual traffic jam on the Chandrapur–Moharli road near Tadoba Tiger Reserve after it settled in the middle of the route and refused to move for hours. The young cub, believed to be the offspring of tigress Madhu, brought vehicles to a complete halt as travellers waited inside their cars for the animal to clear the way.
The stretch where the incident took place falls under the buffer zone of Tadoba, an area known for heavy animal movement. The video, originally filmed by local resident Akash Alam, shows long queues of cars and two-wheelers paused at a safe distance while the tiger sat calmly on the road. Tourists and locals remained inside their vehicles throughout, following safety protocols taught by forest officials.
Residents say tiger sightings on this route have become common, especially around dawn and dusk. The Chandrapur–Moharli stretch is a lifeline for several surrounding villages, but frequent wildlife crossings have made travel unpredictable. Sudden appearances by big cats have raised concerns for two-wheeler riders who are more exposed during such encounters.
Forest authorities continue to remind travellers not to honk, avoid sudden movements and never step out of their vehicles when a tiger or other wildlife is spotted. With such incidents increasing, officials may explore stricter time controls or consider alternate routes to reduce risk.
This episode highlights the fine balance between human activity and wildlife conservation in eco-sensitive regions like Tadoba. As tiger numbers grow and habitats remain shared, both safety and conservation need equal attention to ensure peaceful coexistence.
