Mortal Remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal Brought to India With Full Military Honours
Sulur/Tamil Nadu, November 23, 2025: The mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who lost his life in the LCA Tejas crash during the Dubai Air Show 2025, were flown to India and received with full military honours. The Indian Air Force confirmed that the mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal arrived at Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore onboard a C-130 aircraft on Sunday.
Officials from the Indian Air Force stated that the Emirati Defence Forces accorded a ceremonial guard of honour before the remains were sent back to India, recognising his service and bravery.
Received at Sulur Air Base
IAF personnel received the mortal remains of Wing Commander Namansh Syal with a dignified ceremony at the Southern Air Command base.

Earlier, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal and Consul General Satish Sivan offered floral tributes. An official statement from the Indian Embassy on X said the Emirati Defence Forces honoured him with a ceremonial guard of honour.
Family and Hometown in Mourning
Wing Commander Namansh Syal hailed from Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra district and is survived by his wife, an officer in the Indian Air Force, their six-year-old daughter, and his parents. Locals gathered at his ancestral home to pay their respects, expressing grief and pride.
Residents shared deep shock over the loss. One villager said they were heartbroken but proud of his achievements. Another resident expressed disbelief that someone full of courage and life had passed so suddenly.
Inquiry Initiated
The Indian Air Force said a court of inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident at the Dubai Air Show, where the Tejas aircraft crashed and burst into flames, leading to the pilot’s fatal injuries.
