Speeding Car Crashes Into Pune Metro Pillar on Paud Road; Airbags Saved Driver’s Life
Pune, November 6, 2025: In yet another alarming incident on the city’s metro route, a speeding car crashed into a metro pillar on Paud Road late Wednesday night. The accident took place between 11:30 pm and 11:45 pm in front of the SNDT Metro Station. Thankfully, the driver survived, saved by the car’s airbags and the quick response of passersby.
According to social activist Rishikesh Balgude, who witnessed the accident, a speeding Honda City overtook his car and slammed into a pillar supporting the double-decker metro flyover. Balgude and his friends immediately stopped their vehicle, pulled the injured driver out of the wreck, contacted his family, and alerted the police control room and traffic department.
Preliminary information suggests that the driver lives near the Alankar Police Station area. Police suspect the possibility of alcohol consumption but are awaiting medical confirmation. The car was completely damaged in the impact, and traffic briefly slowed down on the stretch between Paud Road and Deccan.
This crash comes just days after a similar accident near Bund Garden Metro Station in Koregaon Park, which claimed three lives. The repeated incidents have raised questions about late-night speeding and driver safety on Pune’s metro corridors.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on metro-connected roads where visibility and sudden turns can increase the risk of such accidents. The investigation is currently underway.
