According to Pimpri Chinchwad police, the man was caught on July 22 this year while driving under the influence in Hinjawadi. The case was registered under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. On Monday, the Motor Vehicle Court imposed a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 23 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and assigned this unique awareness task as part of his punishment.

A police officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad traffic branch said the offender will distribute the handbills at major traffic signals across the city to help raise awareness about road safety and the risks associated with drunk driving.

From January to September this year, Pimpri Chinchwad police have acted against 2,984 offenders in drunk driving cases and filed them before the Motor Vehicle Court. Officials believe this kind of judgment can serve as a deterrent while spreading a strong message on responsible driving.
