The advisory covers major highways and provides recommendations to avoid long delays and congestion.
Heavy Traffic Expected on Major Highways
Authorities have warned of possible traffic jams on key routes leading to Pune.
- NH-48 (Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway): Heavy congestion is expected for vehicles coming from Kolhapur, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Mumbai, and Mira-Bhayandar.
- NH-50 (Pune–Nashik Highway): Travellers coming from Nashik and nearby areas through Chakan may experience long queues.
- NH-65 (Pune–Solapur Highway): Those driving from Solapur to Pune are likely to face slow-moving traffic.
Key Recommendations for Commuters
To manage the post-Diwali rush smoothly, Pune traffic police have suggested a few simple measures:
- Check the latest traffic updates before starting your journey.
- Avoid travelling during peak hours (7 am–11 am and 5 pm–9 pm).

The advisory has been issued jointly by the Superintendent of Police (State Highways), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pune City, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pimpri Chinchwad. Their coordinated efforts aim to ensure smooth traffic management across all major entry points into Pune during the festive return rush.
