Pune: PMPML and RTO Crack Down on Rickshaws Parked Near Bus Stops in Pune

Pune, October 08, 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) have launched a strict joint drive against rickshaws parked illegally near PMPML bus stops across Pune. The enforcement action began on Monday and is aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smooth movement of buses at designated stops.
In just one day, the joint teams penalised 15 rickshaw drivers and collected a fine of ₹27,000. According to officials, auto-rickshaws are not allowed to park within 50 metres of PMPML bus stops. However, many drivers were seen waiting close to the stops to pick up passengers, creating obstructions for buses and forcing commuters to run towards buses stopping at a distance.
Following repeated complaints from passengers, PMPML and RTO have decided to maintain a constant watch. The drive covered areas such as Swargate Bus Stand, Pune Station, Shewalewadi, Ramwadi Metro Station, Swargate, and Katraj Chowk.
PMPML has appealed to all rickshaw drivers to avoid parking or waiting within the restricted 50-metre zone near bus stops. Officials confirmed that this joint action will continue in the coming days to prevent inconvenience to commuters and improve traffic discipline around PMPML bus stops.
