Rail Neer Gets Cheaper: Indian Railways Cuts Packaged Drinking Water Price from September 22
Passengers traveling on Indian Railways will now pay less for packaged drinking water as the Ministry of Railways has decided to reduce the price of Rail Neer bottles. The move comes after GST rates were revised, and the direct benefit is being passed on to consumers.
From September 22, 2025, a 1-litre Rail Neer bottle will cost ₹14 instead of ₹15, while the price of a 500 ml bottle has been reduced from ₹10 to ₹9. The revised prices will also apply to other shortlisted packaged drinking water brands approved by IRCTC and sold at stations and onboard trains.
The Railway Board issued a circular confirming the price change with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate. All Indian Railways zones and IRCTC have been instructed to implement the new rates immediately.
This revision is expected to provide relief to millions of passengers who depend on packaged water during train journeys. Rail Neer, produced by IRCTC, has been the standard drinking water brand offered across Indian Railways for years, ensuring safe and affordable drinking water to travelers.
