The reason for the shutdown is essential electricity work being carried out by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The traffic department has announced alternate routes to help commuters avoid delays.

According to officials, the work involves repairs of the 22 KV Bhatan–Ajivali line near the Kon Bridge, between 9.600 km and 9.700 km markers. To avoid congestion and inconvenience, the Maharashtra Traffic Department, under Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) Pravin Salunke, has issued an advisory suggesting alternate routes.

Alternate Routes

For vehicles traveling from Mumbai towards Pune, you can:

  • Take the Konkanbhumi Circle-JNPT Road-D Point-Palaspe Phata route to merge onto NH-48.
  • Alternatively, use the Shedung Exit at KM 20.200 to join NH-48.

For vehicles traveling from Pune towards Mumbai, the options are:

  • Exit at Khopoli (KM 39.900) and follow NH-48 towards Mumbai.
  • Exit at Khalapur Toll Plaza (KM 32.500) and take the Pali Bridge route to NH-48.

Motorists can re-enter the expressway at Khalapur Toll Naka or Magic Point. The notification will remain valid until the completion of the work. Normal traffic will resume after 3 PM.

The advisory has been issued under the Motor Vehicles Act and will remain in effect until the electricity work is completed, according to Praveen Salunkhe, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Maharashtra.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra travel time to avoid getting stuck.
