Pune-Jammu Tawi Jhelum Express to run only up to Ambala till Sept 29 due to severe flooding in Jammu region

Pune, 2nd September 2025: The Jhelum Express (Train No. 11077) from Pune will now terminate at Ambala Cantt Junction instead of Jammu Tawi until 29th September, 2025. The decision comes in response to severe flooding in the Jammu region, which has caused widespread damage to railway tracks and infrastructure, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Pune said.
Passengers travelling to stations between Ambala City and Jammu Tawi will be affected as the train will not stop at these stations during this period. The DRM expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and urged travellers to plan accordingly.
Northern Railways has reported the cancellation of 69 trains bound for Jammu Tawi until 30th September, including major services like the Patna-Jammu Tawi Archana Express and the Ghazipur City-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express. Another 64 trains have been either short-terminated or rerouted, such as the Sealdah-Jammu Tawi Humsafar Express, now ending at Ludhiana.
Railway infrastructure in Jammu and parts of Punjab has suffered extensively from floods, landslides, and soil erosion along rivers like the Chakki. Critical sections, including Pathankot Cantt-Kandrori, Jammu Tawi-Katra, and Kathua-Madhopur, remain closed for repairs.
To assist stranded passengers, special evacuation trains have been arranged to carry around 2,500 travellers to destinations including Varanasi and Delhi. Full refunds are being issued for canceled trains, and passengers are advised to check the IRCTC website for real-time updates.
Partial restoration is in progress, with lines such as Udhampur-Manwal expected to resume operations by 3rd September. However, the full resumption of services to Jammu remains uncertain as repair work continues. The disruptions have hit long-distance and pilgrimage routes hardest, affecting travellers heading to Jammu and Kashmir.
