Pune: Purandar International Airport Land Acquisition Begins with Overwhelming Support

Pune, July 23, 2025: In a significant development for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Purandar International Airport, the land acquisition process has officially commenced with an encouraging response from affected landowners. Acceptance of consent letters began on Monday, July 21, and within just two days, around 100 consent letters were submitted, covering approximately 125 acres (50 hectares) of land.
Rapid Progress in Land Acquisition
The airport project, set to be constructed near Pune, Maharashtra, requires a total of 2,673 hectares of land. With 82% of affected landowners already expressing support for the initiative, officials are optimistic that the acquisition process will be completed swiftly.
Generous Compensation for Landowners
To ensure a smooth and fair transition, the government has announced a four times monetary compensation for the affected landowners. Additionally, those who provide self-consent will receive an extra 10% compensatory land parcel.
These land parcels will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis from a 700-acre reserved land in the upcoming Aerocity surrounding the airport. The authorities have started accepting consent letters from eligible landowners, marking a crucial step toward the airport’s development.
A Boost for Pune’s Infrastructure
The Purandar International Airport is expected to significantly enhance Pune’s connectivity and economic growth, reducing dependency on the existing Pune International Airport. The overwhelming support from landowners reflects the project’s importance and the community’s trust in its benefits.
With the land acquisition process now underway, the state government and aviation authorities are working diligently to fast-track the project, bringing Pune closer to having a world-class international airport.
