Pune: Newly-Married HR Executive Crushed to Death by Trailer After Falling Due to Pothole in Chakan
Pune, July 14, 2025: A horrifying accident near Hyundai Chowk on the Chakan-Talegaon Road claimed the life of a 27-year-old HR executive, Gajanan Baburao Borkekar, early Monday morning. The tragic incident, captured on CCTV, shows Borkekar’s two-wheeler skidding due to a pothole before being crushed under the wheels of a moving trailer.
Details of the Accident
The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when Borkekar, riding pillion on a bike with his colleague Aditya Gaikwad, was on his way to work in Chakan MIDC. Reports indicate that the bike lost control while overtaking a truck, causing Borkekar to fall and come under the rear wheels of a speeding container truck. He died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Gaikwad survived with injuries.
Victim’s Tragic Backstory
Borkekar, a native of Bolka village in Nanded district, had tied the knot just three months ago. His sudden demise has left his family and colleagues in shock. The gruesome nature of the accident underscores the dangerous road conditions in the area, where potholes and poor infrastructure have repeatedly led to fatal mishaps.
Authorities Take Action
The Mhalunge Police have registered a case against the container truck driver, a resident of Dharavi, Mumbai. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Growing Public Outrage Over Neglected Roads
Locals and industrial workers have long complained about the deteriorating condition of the Talegaon-Chakan highway, which is riddled with potholes and lacks proper safety measures. Despite multiple accidents, including the recent death of 20-year-old Saee Bhagwat on Sinhagad Road due to similar reasons, authorities have failed to undertake necessary repairs.
