MP Calls for Separate Administrative Body to Resolve Civic Woes

Growing Civic Issues in Hinjawadi & Surrounding Areas

Hinjawadi’s Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, a global IT hub, along with nearby areas like Man, Marunji, Jambhe, Gahunje, Nande, Lavale, Pirangut, and Bhukum, has been grappling with severe civic problems. Residents and professionals face persistent issues such as traffic congestion, poor roads, erratic electricity, and water shortages. Despite repeated complaints, coordination between multiple government agencies—including MIDC, the municipal corporation, Metro, PMRDA, the electricity board, public works department, and police—has been lacking, leading to prolonged delays in resolving these concerns.

Sule’s Demand for a Dedicated Administrative Authority

In a letter dated July 4, 2025, Sule proposed the formation of an independent administrative body—either as a Special City Development Authority or an Industrial Township Administration—to streamline planning, funding, and service delivery for the rapidly urbanizing region. She emphasized that such an authority would ensure autonomy and faster decision-making, reducing the burden on citizens who currently struggle to follow up with multiple departments.

Immediate Solution: Appointment of a Nodal Officer

Until a long-term solution is implemented, Sule has requested the state government to appoint a competent nodal officer to facilitate coordination between various agencies. This, she believes, will help citizens escalate their grievances efficiently and reduce unnecessary delays.

Urgent Appeal to CM Fadnavis

Sule has urged CM Fadnavis and the state Industries Minister to treat the matter with urgency, stressing that Hinjawadi’s deteriorating infrastructure could harm Pune’s reputation as a global IT destination.

As the issue gains traction, stakeholders await the government’s response to ensure smoother operations in one of Maharashtra’s most critical economic zones.
