Maharashtra Weather: Rains Expected to Increase from the Evening of July 5 Across the State
Pune, July 3, 2024 – Maharashtra is set to experience intensified rainfall starting from the evening of July 5, continuing for the next 4-5 days, according to weather experts. Anupam Kashyapi, former head of weather forecasting at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune, stated that while a marginal reduction in rain is expected on July 3 and 4, the state should prepare for heavier downpours soon after.
Current Weather System and Forecast
The current weather system is positioned over South Jharkhand, influencing rainfall patterns across Maharashtra. While a brief respite is expected on July 3 and 4, Kashyapi warned that from the evening of July 5, widespread rainfall will resume, affecting major cities like Mumbai and Pune, along with other parts of the state.
Preparedness Advised
Authorities have urged residents, especially in flood-prone areas, to stay alert. The forecasted heavy rain could lead to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and potential flooding in low-lying regions. Disaster response teams are on standby to handle emergencies.
Impact on Daily Life
With the monsoon gaining strength, commuters in Mumbai and Pune should anticipate delays in local trains and road transport. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect crops, while travelers should monitor weather updates before venturing out.
Kashyapi emphasized that while the current system may bring marginally less rain for two days, the subsequent spell could be more intense, requiring heightened preparedness.
