Unlike routine cleaning efforts, this drive will involve thorough washing of roads, removal of construction debris, unclogging drains, and disinfecting public toilets and market zones. The initiative will be supervised at the zonal level by deputy commissioners, who have been designated as nodal officers for their respective areas.

Omprakash Divate, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PMC, stated that all departments must appoint nodal officers to oversee the drive and submit daily reports along with before-and-after photos for accountability.

Key Focus Areas of the Drive:

✔ Anti-Encroachment Dept: Removing illegal encroachments, abandoned vehicles from roads & footpaths.
✔ Road Dept: Clearing debris, repainting zebra crossings.
✔ Drainage Dept: Cleaning blocked drains, repairing broken covers, installing safety nets near nullahs.
✔ Solid Waste Management: Ensuring garbage & debris removal with adequate staff & vehicles.
✔ Public Toilets: Deep cleaning and regular maintenance.
✔ Building Permission Dept: Inspecting building margins for violations.

MJ Pradeep Chandran, Additional Municipal Commissioner, emphasized proper documentation and inter-departmental coordination, while Prithviraj BP stressed transparency, mandating visual proof of cleaned areas for monitoring.

This drive underscores PMC’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier Pune, urging public cooperation for sustained impact.
