CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Celebrates 10th Convocation at Lavasa Campus, Pune with 717 Graduates Conferred Degrees Including 6 PhDs

Lavasa, 14th June, 2025: CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, celebrated its 10th Convocation Ceremony with grandeur, honouring the academic achievements of 717 graduates across doctoral, postgraduate, and undergraduate programmes. Set amidst the tranquil Sahyadri hills, the event marked a significant milestone in the university’s journey of excellence and service.

A total of 6 PhD degrees were conferred in the disciplines of Law, Management, and Commerce. 519 undergraduate degrees were awarded across programmes including BCom (Financial Analytics – 97), LLB (86), BSc Data Science (34), BBA Business Analytics (273), and BSc Economics and Analytics (29). Additionally, 192 postgraduate degrees were conferred, comprising MBA (70), MSc Global Finance (16), LLM (13), MSc Data Science (85), MSc Economics and Analytics (6), and MA English (2).

Founded in 1969 as Christ College and declared a Deemed to be University in 2008, CHRIST is managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) and rooted in the visionary legacy of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara. The Lavasa campus, inaugurated in 2014, is part of a broader network that includes 3 campuses in Bengaluru and 1 in Delhi NCR. The campus is known for its commitment to academic excellence, holistic development, and nation-building through education.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Bharat Agarwal, President of Vishwakarma University, Pune, in his keynote address, urged graduates to remain grateful to their parents and emphasized the importance of staying connected with peers—batchmates, seniors, and juniors—as they form the foundation of lifelong professional and personal networks.

Chancellor Dr. Fr. Varghese Vithayathil CMI encouraged students to uphold the values of critical thinking, ethical scholarship, and service to humanity. Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Joseph C.C. spoke about bridging the gap between knowledge and practice, learning and leadership. Director Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas reminded the audience that, the highest purpose of education is not mere recognition, but meaningful contribution to society.
The Convocation was not a farewell, but a celebration of accomplishments and the beginning of a new journey filled with purpose, opportunity, and responsibility beyond the university gates.
