Pune: Truck Accident at Chandani Chowk Leaves One Dead, Traffic Chaos as Iron Rods Pierce Cabin
Pune, June 13, 2025 – A horrific accident at Pune’s Chandani Chowk claimed one life and left another critically injured after a container truck loaded with heavy iron rods met with a devastating crash on Thursday evening. The impact caused the rods to violently thrust forward, piercing through the driver’s cabin and trapping both occupants inside the mangled vehicle.
The truck, en route to Mumbai, was carrying construction-grade iron rods when the driver reportedly applied sudden brakes. The momentum, combined with improperly secured cargo, sent the rods hurtling into the cabin, impaling the driver and his assistant. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as locals attempted to pull out the rods, but their sheer size and weight made rescue efforts nearly impossible.
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot, launching a frantic rescue operation. Tragically, one victim died on the spot, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The bizarre and gruesome nature of the accident drew massive crowds, leading to severe traffic snarls in the area.
