Pune, June 07, 2025: The Maharashtra government has greenlit a 25-km elevated flyover from Hadapsar to Yavat on NH-65 (Pune-Solapur highway) to tackle chronic traffic congestion. The ₹5,262-crore project, to be executed by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), will feature a six-lane flyover atop the existing highway, which will also be expanded to six lanes beneath. An additional 6.5-km stretch from Yavat to Solapur will be widened similarly.

Deputy Secretary Pradnya Walke highlighted the highway’s critical role in transporting agricultural produce, industrial goods, and commercial traffic, currently hampered by severe jams. The Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model will fund the project, with tolls collected via FastTag, GPS, or advanced systems, subject to triennial state reviews.

The state will finance the highway expansion, while private partnerships handle the rest. Adjustments may be needed if the Pune Metro alignment conflicts with the flyover, requiring MSIDC to seek government approval.

This project mirrors the proposed Wagholi-Shirur flyover (Pune-Ahmednagar highway) and the Pune-Aurangabad greenfield corridor. A Pune ring road is also planned to divert heavy vehicles, easing city entry points. Meanwhile, the Pune-Mumbai Expressway’s missing link (bypassing Lonavala) nears completion, promising 30-minute travel time and fuel savings.
