Pune: Traffic Diversions Announced for Bakri Eid Prayers on June 7

Pune, June 6, 2025: In view of Bakri Eid celebrations on June 7, 2025, Pune Traffic Police has issued a special traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement and public safety near the Eidgah Maidan, Golibar Maidan Chowk. A large number of devotees are expected to gather at mosques and Eidgahs across the city for early morning prayers.

According to a press release issued by Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), the following traffic restrictions and diversions will be in effect from 6:00 AM until the completion of prayers (around 11:30 AM).

❌ Roads Closed for Vehicles:

  1. Mamadewi Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk to Dhole Patil (Seven Loves) Chowk
  2. CDA Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk
  3. Bhairobanala to Golibar Chowk
  4. Mamadewi Chowk via Bishop School route
  5. Seven Loves Chowk to Golibar Maidan
  6. Solapur Bazaar Chowk to Golibar Chowk

Heavy vehicles, ST buses, PMPML buses, and goods carriers heading toward Golibar Maidan from Lullanagar Chowk will also be restricted during this time.

✅ Alternate Routes:

  • Heavy vehicles towards Swargate (only for Market Yard) to use Prince of Wales Road via Lullanagar.
  • Light vehicles heading to Pune Station can use Empress Garden Road.
  • Vehicles from Lullanagar will be diverted via CDO Chowk or Khataw Bungalow Chowk to Mamadewi Chowk via Bishop School Road.
  • Vehicles from Khane Maruti Chowk may proceed via Pul Gate Depot or Solapur Bazaar Chowk, using Napier Road or Mamadewi Chowk routes as required.

A temporary right turn will be permitted at Khataw Bungalow Chowk to facilitate smoother traffic movement.

The police have also mentioned that other Eidgahs across Pune may see area-specific traffic diversions depending on the crowd. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the police and follow signage to avoid inconvenience.
