Pune: PMRDA Cracks Down on Unauthorized Hoardings and Encroachments, Warns of Criminal Action Against Those Obstructing Ongoing Drive

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has a large number of unauthorized hoardings within its jurisdiction during an ongoing survey. Over the past five months, the anti-encroachment department has removed approximately 90 of these illegal structures.
A crucial review meeting, chaired by Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase (IAS), was held yesterday to address the issue of unauthorized hoardings. Key decisions were taken to ensure immediate action, especially considering the upcoming monsoon season and the Ashadi Wari pilgrimage, which heighten the risk posed by dangerous hoardings.
Key Decisions:
- Legal action against those obstructing removal efforts
- FIRs to be filed against advertising agencies and property owners involved
- Measures to clear natural drainage paths for smooth water flow
- Strict action against builders responsible for encroachments and debris dumping
PMRDA remains committed to ensuring a safer city through concrete steps. Senior officials, including Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, Vigilance Officer and Police Superintendent Amol Tambe, Director of Town Planning Sunil Marale, Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode, and Deputy Commissioners Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil and Shweta Patil, attended the meeting.
